Creating a Notice
Notices are a simple but powerful way to keep parents informed about upcoming events in school. From bake sales and non-uniform days to class assemblies and special events, Notices help make sure nothing gets missed. They’re your go-to tool for delivering clear, timely reminders that keep everyone in the loop. In this article, we’ll show you how to create effective Notices that grab attention, communicate key details and help parents stay engaged with school life.
What is a Notice?
A Notice is a simple and effective way to share timely reminders with parents about upcoming events and activities. Notices appear in the dedicated Notices area of the app and you can also schedule up to three automated reminder notifications to be sent at specific times before the event. This helps ensure that key dates and details don’t get missed. Common examples include reminders for:
- Non-uniform days
- Class assemblies
- Fundraiser events
- School photos
Who can Create and Publish a Notice?
By default, school users in the following system roles will have permission to create and publish a Notice:
- System Administrator
- School Administrator
- Senior Leadership Team Member
- Content Manager
System Administrators have the ability to change the system permissions. Should you have difficulty accessing any of the features outlined in the steps below, please contact your school's System Administrator.
Why Should I Create a Notice?
Creating a Notice is a great way to keep parents informed and engaged without adding extra work for your office team. The automated notifications serve as gentle, well-timed reminders for busy parents, helping them stay on top of important events. For schools, this means less time spent sending out manual reminders and more confidence that key reminders are being seen.
Top Tips for Creating an Effective Notice
1. Stagger your reminders
Space out your notifications so parents aren’t overwhelmed, for example, one a week before, another a few days before and one on the day.
2. Use the email notification as your final reminder
This is perfect for last-minute nudges and ensures that even parents who haven’t logged into the app will still get the reminder.
3. Be clear and specific
Include key details like the date, time, location and any action required (e.g. “Bring a cardboard box for DT project”).
4. Keep it short and easy to read
Use bullet points or line breaks to make your Notice scannable at a glance.
5. Give enough notice
Schedule your first reminder well in advance so parents have time to prepare.
